Get involved in local ladies football

Womens Football continues to flourish

We have all seen our fantastic lionesses leading the way in the headlines and we are pleased that in Hampshire, we have continued this legacy on a local level. There are loads of ways, more-so than ever before for women to get involved in the game in Hampshire.

We have even gone that extra mile as to match women to their preferred choice of football format with our #PlayOn initiative. We also understand that lifestyle plays a big part in all of this - time, work, family. All the associated 'barriers' which may get in the way from time to time, but we've taken all of that on board and have set about implementing an effective strategy to combat these 'barriers' to participation.

We have a dedicated Women & Girls Football Development Officer who is available to assist you with all of your enquiries and get you involved in the game, we also have a dedicated Recreational Football Development Officer who delivers an extensive range of programmes, sessions and initiatives around the county all of which are designed to fit round you and your lifestyle demands.

For those hungry to get back into the 11v11, traditional format of the game we have one female adult football league in the county - the Hampshire County Womens Football League and 4 female youth female football leagues (New Forest Girls Youth, Southampton District Girls Football League, Winchester & District Girls Football League and Hampshire County Girls Youth Football League). A pathway is there for the transition so get involved today!

The FA Girls’ Football Week is a national campaign aimed at raising the profile of female football and supporting the FA’s aim of doubling the number of women and girls playing football by 2020. During the week sessions are delivered in schools, universities, colleges, clubs, community groups and other organisations across the country.

We have our very own section on our website that will assist you with the information you need to set up your own team, see Setting up a club.

Hampshire FA run the PlayOn Initiative, which is a tool to assist you in finding both recreational and traditional teams. On the PlayOn website you will be able to do a Quiz to find out what style of football may best suit you.
